Stunning pair of vintage c.1970’s mid century modern brown leather and solid chrome flat bar, “Pirate” lounge chairs, designed by Elsa & Nordahl Solheim and manufactured by Rykkin & Co. of Norway.
They feature a chrome plated heavy steel frame, with a cantilevered floating design that is very comfortable! Original orangey hazelnut brown button tufted leather cushion with original hand stitched removable leather armrests, canvas support, remarkable quality and form.
The leather is in overall very good condition for the age, with some wear and tear evident. No rips or tears to the cushion, one seat does have some minor water mark (shown in closeup), but I have not attempted to clean them so I suspect once that is done they’ll be even better then they currently are. The leather wrap for the arms has holes on the edges as shown. These can either be re-made, used as-is for a nice vintage look, or simply removed because the chairs look amazingly sharp without them.
The chrome is in very good condition as well, with some wear and mild surface pitting along some of the lower leg bar.
They measure 24 1/2″ wide, 27″ tall and 30″
