Description
Beautiful original drawing by the renowned illustrator and artist, Eduardo Benito. Benito was a Spanish fashion illustrator and painter, best known for his 15 year career doing cover art for Vogue and Vanity Fair magazine. He studied at L’École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and Mignon Studios.
This piece is drawn using pencil, india ink, watercolor and gold gilding. A great light hand really exemplifies the Art Deco form that Benito was known for, with 4 lovely women enjoying a picnic. It is signed ‘Benito’ in the lower right corner and titled ‘Pique-nique Apocryphe’ in the upper left.
It measures 15 1/4″ by 19 1/4″ sight size, with the total matted area being 22 1/8″ by 26″. It comes framed under UV protective glass. The matting also has some soiling as you can see, and personally I would have this drawing professionally re-framed. There is some foxing around the edges of the mat, but no damage to the drawing outside of that.
